The challenge of this project was to transform an introverted 30-by-30-foot farmhouse into a structure that responded to its site and took advantage of the expansive valley views to the west. These views were not realized in its original cellular construction.
The western edge of the house was converted from a stark, two-story elevation into an arrangement of covered porches and open patio spaces. Using folding glass walls, the outdoor experience was brought inside. By providing radiant heating for the exterior patio, the interior was pulled outside in the form of a four-season living room.
